The first thing to do in such a situation is to check if the transmitter can still open and close the garage door.
If your garage door won t close all the way the problem could be due to a blocked photo eye.
While you ve likely already checked this out we sometimes overlook the simplest things so it s worth mentioning and inspecting.
First check the sensor lights.
The garage door opener light will flash twice and the down button will begin to flash press and hold the down button till the garage door reaches the fully closed position.
Check the battery in your remote operator by walking into the garage holding it in your hand.
Sometimes a garage door that lowers just fine will fail to open especially in winter.
So once the batteries die the transmitter will stop sending a signal to the door.
If the garage door is locked from the inside it won t open.
Press the button as you observe a small blinking red light on the box where the chain enters and exits.
Especially in winter when rollers sometimes get stiff the door opener might be refuse to open.
If your garage door is closing fully and then reversing to open again then it may be due to a problem with the close limit switch.
Press and hold the up button till the garage door is in the fully opened position press the adjustment button to confirm.
Clutter or obstructions that block the sensor are the first problems to look for if your door won t close or in extreme cases open at all.
The photo eye components consist of two pieces that align face to face across each side of the garage door roughly four feet above the ground.
To work correctly the garage door transmitters need an adequate level of power from batteries.
Depending on the brand.
Lubricating rollers can also help with this problem.
If this happens look for a screw on the motor unit to adjust the sensitivity of the opener.
The opener motor is fine but the shaft doesn t turn.
If it does then the transmitter in your car likely just needs a simple battery replacement.
