Sometimes the coats will lay down flat and smooth and look good after the floor finisher has left only to receive a call later that the finish is separating from the floor. The best way to fix a peeling floor is to sand it down to bare wood and restart the finishing process. Peeling finish can be a frustrating issue for floor finishers. Engineered floors are an economical alternative to solid hardwood flooring.

Well i laid engineered hardwood down about just a little under 700 square feet. They are made of a plywood or composite base topped with a thin layer of wood veneer. Even if you order the flooring all at the same time mass production methods result in flooring boards in varying widths lengths and thicknesses which can make for a very difficult installation. This often leads to some head scratching trying to figure out how it happened.

I know that the problem is wax in the grain of the wood and i also know that even if i sand the whole floor again the same thing will. Most engineered wood flooring on the market is mass produced. This method also boils the wood before peeling it which can cause moisture issues. While the veneer can range in thickness depending on the quality of the flooring most engineered products can be sanded and refinished to restore their appearance.

I sanded a 980 sq ft. Job and when i coated the floor oil base satin the finish started flaking off the floor from the grain i have had this problem one other time in the 4 years that i have been sanding floors.
